Founded in 1967, for those interested in any aspect of the earth sciences, we are a diverse group of people. Young and old. Novice and Advanced. Once a year, near the end of October, we sponsor an Ultraviolation show, the only one of it's kind in the nation, where we display, trade and sell fluorescent minerals in the dark. On the second Saturday in March we also sponsor the Micromount show, where small specimens are traded, sold and viewed through microscopes. We have now added another show, the Earth Sciences show in May.
There is an opportunity at every meeting to start or add to your collection with selections from our 'Pick Table' at reasonable prices.
We also have auctions, mineral bingo, and other events in which the public is welcome. The club provides access to collecting sites that otherwise are not open to the public. Our meetings consist of lectures with slide shows, power point presentations, rock examples, and the like, discussing a topic on one of the many fields of membership interest. We have world renowned leaders in the mineral collecting field as speakers, and other times we have the children from our Kid's Corner tell us about what they have learned. Last June they did a wonderful presentation on several different subjects. There are field trips and museum trips at times, but there is always something to learn or share. We hope to see you soon. Bring the kids, Grandma and Grandpa, and your neighbors if you like, and have some fun!
Don't forget to check out our club's library. We have a wonderful selection, new additions are arriving all the time. You must be a member to borrow, but feel free to browse them at any club meeting.
We are also a member of the EFMLS.
